Cicinis 2023

Collio DOC

Trade Tools

Cicinis Sauvignon Blanc is a single-vineyard expression from the foot of Monte Calvario, showcasing the ancient Ponca soils of Collio Goriziano. Hand-harvested from 20-year-old vines cooled by Bora winds, it ferments and ages in a mix of concrete egg tanks and barriques for nine months without malolactic fermentation. The result is a wine of low alcohol, vibrant acidity, and layered texture, offering aromas of citrus, papaya, and sage, with palate notes of vanilla, moka, jasmine, and a finish of lime and white blackberry.

VINTAGE

The 2023 growing season in Friuli was marked by heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions, which led to a delayed harvest. Intense rains from flowering through summer slowed progress, but two weeks before harvest, hot, windy conditions with cool nights enabled good sugar levels in the grapes. While must yields were reduced, the quality of the wines was positive, with promising structure and potential. Despite the challenging season, Friuli winemakers saw this as a solid vintage full of character and depth.

James Suckling - October 24, 2024 "An aromatic sauvignon blanc in an almost New Zealand style. On the nose asparagus and winter melon notes. The palate shows a light body with crisp acidity and a polished, fruited, medium-length finish."

Other Wines by this Producer

Sauvignon Blanc

Venezia Giulia IGT

Attems Sauvignon Blanc, like others from the region, remains a hidden treasure. The wines can be compared in fruit ripeness to Sancerre, with a more intense bouquet as well as a lusher weight and texture. Attems shows how the value of quality-driven, artisanal producers can be extraordinary.

Pinot Grigio

Friuli DOC

The Attems Pinot Grigio demonstrates all of the amazing qualities of the Collio region in Friuli Venezia-Giulia: it has superb weight and texture, and is mineral-edged, savory, tangy, and lively.

Pinot Grigio Ramato Rosé

Attems Pinot Grigio Ramato continues a traditional way of producing Pinot Grigio in the province of Venice. The term ramato, or "coppery", was used to describe the pink hue of the wine due to the slight contact with the purple skins before pressing and fermenting. This rosé boasts a rich, fruity bouquet, and opens full on the palate, with multi-faceted flavors.
